Run The Court Podcast Interview

Check out my most recent interview with Run The Court, a basketball video game, that I created the logo and identity for. I share stories on my early days at AND 1, starting UNDRCRWN®️, and how I was able to make an impact at Nike. Hear how my experiences have led to my creative agency DOC® Studio and clothing brand Trophy Hunting®.

Thanks to Astor Club NYC For hosting my chat with AC from Crimefaces.

Candace Paker Logo

Untitled_Artwork.jpg

Congrats to Candace Parker. September 16 has been proclaimed as 'Candace Parker Day' in Chicago.

In 2008 I was working with adidas and a young college phenom from the University of Tennessee was entering the WNBA and had just signed with adidas. I sketched out a logo that Candace had described but I never realized it became the official logo. Fast forward to today, Candace is launching 3 colorways of the Adidas Exhibit A shoe with the ACE logo I created on them, along with ACE gear and an UltraBoost PE to celebrate the start of the WNBA Playoffs. Look out for Nick DePaula’s show on the Boardroom talking to Candace about the new collection.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Logo (behind the design)

Giannis-logo.gif

Logo created for Greece born NBA star Giiannis Antetokounmpo.

I wanted to create a logo that was non-traditional in usage. The single mark (G with an F hidden inside it) when combined with another one creates an “A”. This was to symbolize family and the power of many. .

NBA Player Identity Project / James Harden

Next up in my NBA Player ID Project is @jharden13

This logo illustrates James' "stirring the pot".

His style and look has a retro feel so I wanted to carry that over to his identity.

I was inspired by classic advertisements, art & posters of the 50's & 60's as well as vintage barber shop, men care advertisements.

The combination of  the serifs and a playful hands were used to illustrate motion.

NBA Player Identity Project

I've always admired the logos created for NBA athlete footwear. From Jordan's Jumpman to Penny's 1 cent, Dikimbe Mutombos's, shield, I've always admired the simplicity a logo brings. Over the past 20 years in the basketball industry I've been able to create some of my own logos for NBA athletes (KG, Gilbert Arenas, Jason Richardson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Vince Carter, Sprewell, to name a few.)

I've taken it upon myself to design new logos for today's newest and brightest stars. Some are re-designs and some new. Hey, maybe they'll end up on a shoe near you.

First up Draymond Green. @Money23Green

I wanted the icon to be a very bold and strong money symbol (could also double as the letter "S" for Saginaw, Draymond's home town where he drew so much inspiration for the person/player he is today. Also built into the "$" is a "D" & "G"

Long before the northwest corner of Washington state was settled, it was inhabited by Native American tribes, including the Tlingit, Haida, Tsimshian and Kwakwaka’wakw tribes, who roamed as far up as Alaska, and whose impact upon the design aesthetic of the Pacific Northwest (thanks to their masks and totem poles) has continued to this day.

The Seahawks name was the result of a popular vote. In 1975, Seattleites submitted 1,741 different suggestions for the name of their new NFL team, including the "Cool Dudes," the "Bumber Shoots," and the "Space Needlers." But when the Seahawks found their name, the NFL looked to the design heritage of the Pacific Northwest for inspiration for a logo, as reported by the Northwest Indian News in September 1975:
